Today I have more than 20 years experience as a real estate appraiser, and worked in the appraisal industry long enough to see many changes, experiencing the Savings & Loan bail out, R41C, the separation of the Appraisal Institute from NAR, the merger of the Society of RE Appraisers with the Appraisal Institute, the establishment of the Appraisal Foundation & USPAP, and new licensing requirements for appraisers. I have also seen several undulations of the real estate market, and am familiar with the complexities of both rising and declining markets.

I decided in 1986 to become a real estate appraiser, and the requirements then were just to obtain a real estate brokers license. I worked as a real estate appraiser for a number of years and then the State mandated that real estate appraisers needed to be licensed or certified. A new section of the State real estate law was created to govern real estate appraisers. I waited for a little while after the certification process was created in order for the state to work some of the bugs out of the system, and then obtained certification number RZ1313.

I started in the appraisal business working with Jack Cannon SRA in April 1986 performing residential appraisals. In 1987 I went to work with Brakora & Associates, Inc performing commercial, agricultural, and industrial appraisals with William R Brakora, MAI. I worked with Bill Brakora from 1987 to 1999. In 1999, I opened Inland Appraisal and Consulting, Inc, and started building my own appraisal company, but have also worked with other appraisers across the State of Florida on various projects. I worked for nearly a year appraising a 96 mile strip of land that was purchased to construct a natural gas pipeline. In September 2002 I purchased the commercial business from William R Brakora MAI and changed the name of Inland Appraisal to Brakora & Groover, Inc. In June 2003, founded Groover Companies, Inc, which is an appraisal and investment corporation, and Brakora & Groover went in separate directions. The scope of my appraisal experience in Florida extends from North of Jacksonville to the Florida Keys. Most of the work completed has been in the central Florida area.
